Sorting your CULO

Could serosorting be the answer to protect your culo? Whether your meeting your culo on-line or in the streets, this growing phenomenom is becoming common practice for many MSM's. So before we decide if serosorting is right for the culo...lets dig a little deeper to find out just what the heck is serosorting?

Serosorting your culo
This fairly new concept is used as a guide in culo selection and can be influential in your decision to use a condom with your partner. Many public health professionals have described it as a form of risk reduction for both HIV + and HIV - MSM, however, there is evidence that serosorting is creating more problems then solutions. Serosorting is the process in which a person makes choices about their sex partners based on HIV status. While we may be just hearing about this term, serosorting has apparently been a common practice since the early days of HIV when negative men chose not to have sex with HIV positive partners. However, as many positive men are living longer and healtheir, many are choosing to date, develop relationships or just plain fuck with other men of the same serostatus.

Serosorting & your culo position
Many researchers have also observed that the practice of serosorting is influencing the position of your culo. Many HIV positive individuals are choosing specific roles with their sex partners based on serostatus. This strategic positioning means that many HIV positive men are choosing to be the bottom with their HIV negative partners.

Recent Developments on Culo sorting
The practice of serosorting can be seen in online MSM chatrooms. "Anything Goes" or "Ask me" are common in profile descriptions. You can pretty much make some generalizations that with these types of profiles, sero status is suspect at best. As we sort out the right culo based on this information, many HIV positive men are choosing to have unprotected sex with other HIV positive men. In addition, HIV negative men are also choosing to have unprotected sex with a presumed HIV negative partner. Recent STD survaillance data show that the rise in Syphillis, Herpes and Gonorrhea among MSM has nearly doubled and in some cases tripled, especially among Latinos and Black MSM. Furthermore, HIV positive men who are engaging in unprotected sex with other positive men are at risk for transmitting a more advanced strain of HIV, reducing or eliminating their treatment options and prognosis.

The verdict on sorting your culo
Serosorting has been given some credit in the media as a way of reducing HIV transmission. However, as new data suggest this method has been used as a license for many MSM men to practice culo fucking without protection. Serosorting distributes the responsibility to both negative and positive men, however MSM that serosort specifically to enjoy bareback sex does not guarantee safety for either partner.

    Thanks for this post. My friends and I were discussing the concept of sero-sorting, and the implications for reducing HIV transmission. I think you covered some really important points with regard possible correlation between those who sero-sort and increased rates of STD infection....and I had no idea about the whole "positioning" thing.

    thanks for your comment. sero-sorting has become a very controversial issue since many are using this concept to fuck without a condom. I've read that the strategic positioning is becoming very common in situations where one partner is + and the other -. Because of other STD's, serosorting is by no means full proof!
